You may have heard of a Raspberry Pi – a credit card sized computer that plugs into your keyboard and monitor – but exactly what IS a Raspberry Pi, how does it work and what can you do with it?
12 year old Elspeth takes a closer look at the mini-computer and explains how even young kids can use it to learn how computers work and how to code.

Check out the Raspberry Pi website  for more information. The Raspberry Pi Foundation is an educational charity, based in the UK, which aims to advance the education of adults and children, particularly in computer sciences.


Where Can I Buy a Raspberry Pi? 

You can buy one directly from the website, or from various retailers. Here is a good overview from Maplin in UK.


Now what? 

As Elspeth said, there are loads of places to learn how to use your Pi. We have some suggestions here, or you could ask in your school if they’d like to set up a Code Club.
